Community Safety Fair
Sat, May 30, 2026
10 am to 2 pm
BMFPD Station 2 at 50 Overlook Lane, Boulder CO 80302
All fire district residents - owners and renters - are invited to attend.
1. Learn
- Practice using a chemical fire extinguisher. BMF volunteer responders will be sure you know how to safely and effectively operate your extinguishers using the P-A-S-S method. Walk-up training for most ages, from 10 until 2.
- How to protect your trees from a beetle infestation. A representative from the Colorado State Forest Service will give a presentation on Pine Beetles and other tree pests. NO registration required. 11 am to 12:00 in the community room, upstairs.
- Attend Safe Mountain Living for Newcomers and Everyone. Meet Chief Palamara and get a jump-start on your mountain safety savvy. Designed for those who have moved to the fire district in the last couple years; residents who have been around longer also find the refresher helpful. 12:30 to 1:30 in the community room, upstairs.
2. Check Your Carseat
- BMFPD’s own certified child safety seat technician can inspect, install and fit your car seat. Appointments only. Follow our link to our Google Calendar; select "Jump to the next bookable date" to get your half-hour appointment. Please be prepared to answer questions about the brand, model of both the carseat and the car. LINK: https://calendar.app.google/Nr33qTYdeiUgUYQ6A
3. Test and Recycle
- Bring your existing fire extinguishers to have them tested by BMFPD volunteers; if they are dry, we’ll recycle them and help you select new ones.
4. Get Information
- Information tables are chock full of current info on first aid, pet evacuation, mitigation and the Wildfire Partners program.
5. Buy New Home Safety Gear
- Get reflective address kits, fire extinguishers, smoke and CO alarms, fire blankets and bleed control kits. BMFPD volunteers will help you evaluate your needs based on your home’s layout.
6. Get Your Kids Involved
- Visit our kids table with fire safety related puzzles and more; tour a BMFPD engine with a volunteer firefighter.
