Open Burn Permits
Residents of the district may burn wood and slash outdoors with a Boulder County permit under certain conditions. For the latest rules and regulations, and for a burn permit application, call the Boulder County sheriff’s fire management office at (303) 441-4500 or visit Boulder County Burn Permits website. Note that it can take 20 days to receive a permit. If you would like some advice about open burning, call Andrew Boersma or Mike Palamara at (303) 440-0235.
Pine Brook Hills Fire Protection District Fire Code
The Pine Brook Hills Fire Protection District (now defunct) fire code contains regulations regarding open burning as established in June of 2001. Pine Brook Hills Fire Protection District Fire Code
More recent changes to the Colorado Revised Statutes (CRS) provide current State of Coloardo guidance on pile burning requirements and authorities applicable to BMFPD pile burning activities:

Carriage Hills Estates
Pursuant to HOA Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions (CC&Rs), residents of Carriage Hills Estates are prohibited from burning wood debris or slash on their property - all slash pile burns must be planned, conducted, and/or supervised by a state-certified Burn Boss on staff with Boulder Mountain Fire or other state-certified organizations. All authorized organizations must follow State and County regulations and permitting requirements for pile burning.
Pile Burning Contract
The updated 2024 BMFPD Pile Burning Contract contains supplemental information for property owners regarding the authorities granted to BMFPD as provided by Colorado Revised Statutes for conducting prescribed pile burns.
